THE SOIL – Seattle will miss having Jeff Bezos.
After almost thirty years in the Puget Sound region, the founder of Amazon said on Thursday that he was moving to Miami to be nearer to his parents and Blue Origin’s Cape Canaveral headquarters.
“As exciting as the move is, it’s an emotional decision for me. Seattle, you will always have a piece of my heart,” said Bezos on Thursday in an Instagram post.
When Bezos founded Amazon in 1994 in his Bellevue garage, he relocated to the area.
When it opened a store in South Lake Union in 2010, Amazon developed into its own economic ecosystem.

Bezos Continues Serving as Executive Chair Of Amazon.com
In 2017, as it carried on growing, Amazon revealed plans to open a second headquarters in Arlington, Virginia.
Bezos oversaw the business until 2021, at which point he gave Andy Jassy full control as CEO. Bezos continues to serve as executive chair of Amazon.com.
Bezos launched a different business endeavour in 2000 called Blue Origin, a Kent-based space and rocket technology company. In Cape Canaveral, the business has a rocket factory and production facility where it builds and prepares to launch rockets.
