Search Being Conducted to Identify the Fire's Source
According to Baltimore City Fire spokesperson Kevin Cartwright, the incident commander decided to sound a second alarm when the flames got more intense. In an attempt to contain the raging fire, this call was placed to deploy more men and resources to the area.
A search is presently being conducted to identify the fire’s source.
"A Hero has given his Life for Baltimore's Safety, The Ultimate Sacrifice." Says Scott
Baltimore’s first focus tonight ought to be supporting these families, uniting behind this department, and offering the city our complete solidarity as we join forces to comfort them in the wake of this devastating loss,” Scott stated. “A hero has given his life for Baltimore’s safety, the ultimate sacrifice.”
About twenty-four months prior, in January 2022, the Baltimore City Fire Department was grieving the untimely death of three courageous coworkers who had heroically battled a catastrophic fire in a deserted house on Stricker Street.

The Fire Killed EMT Kenny Lacayo, Firefighter Kelsey Sadler, and Lieutenant Paul Butrim
Tragedy happened on January 24, 2022, when a building partially collapsed, killing EMT Kenny Lacayo, firefighter Kelsey Sadler, and Lieutenant Paul Butrim.
No one was taken into custody in relation to the fire, despite the fact that law enforcement officials released pictures of those they were looking for.
The Stricker Street fire sparked a significant public uproar over the urgent problem of vacant residential homes in the city, which finally led to a change in the department’s leadership.
