Date : 28th October, 2023
THE SOIL – Former President George W. Bush hit the first pitch to former Texas Rangers catcher Iván Pudge Rodriguez in the first game of the World Series, and the ball bounced in front of the pitcher’s mound.
Nineteen years of his tenure as Texas governor preceded Bush’s appointment as team captain in 1989–1994. The Rangers are playing the Arizona Diamondbacks right now.
As president, Bush gained notoriety for his famous gesture of tossing the first pitch at the World Series’ first game, which was played in New York City after the horrific events of 9/11. With unwavering confidence, he launched the baseball off the pitcher’s mound with no bounce.

Jeter Warned Bush That He Would Have to Pitch From the Pitcher's Mound to Prevent a Bounce or Else The Crowd Would Boo Him
Before the ceremonial first pitch, Bush and former Yankee shortstop Derek Jeter, who is now a television analyst, had a nostalgic moment. Before the 2001 season, Jeter had warned Bush that he would have to pitch from the pitcher’s mound to prevent a bounce, or else the crowd would boo him.
In a quick interview on Friday, Jeter stated, “Well, this is Texas,” from the tunnel behind the Texas dugout on the first base side. “You bounce it, they won’t boo you.”
“No, no,” Bush replied. “It doesn’t matter now.”
Bush wore a chic white blazer with the Rangers’ recognisable red “T” on the front. In the meantime, Rodriguez, the renowned Hall of Famer, was wearing his recognisable No. 7 jersey.
The Rangers' 2 World Series Appearances in 2010 and 2011 Were Greatly Aided by A-Rod
The Rangers’ most recent two World Series appearances, in 2010 and 2011, were greatly aided by A-Rod. This incredible athlete, a multi-award winner of 13 Gold Gloves and 14 All-Star selections, spent his first 12 seasons as a player with the Texas Rangers, where he played for part of his 21-year baseball career.
Bush, the 43rd president, and his father, George H.W. Bush, the 41st president, participated in the ceremonial first pitch twice. They teamed up before the 2010 World Series’ fourth game in Arlington, Texas, and its fifth game in Houston in 2017. At the moment, the younger Bush lives in Dallas.
