Joe Biden personally urged Israel’s Prime Minister to use extreme caution when protecting the lives of people in the Gaza Strip

THE SOIL – In a private phone call on Tuesday, President Joe Biden personally urged Israel’s Prime Minister to use extreme caution when protecting the lives of people in the Gaza Strip. This appeal is made as Israel sets out to eradicate the threat that Hamas poses in the wake of the worst attack the country has seen in fifty years.
According to statements from administration officials, the Biden administration is collaborating with international partners to develop a plan that guarantees the safe evacuation of Gaza’s civilian population, who might be in danger due to the fierce fighting in the heavily populated coastal area.
A proposal to facilitate the safe evacuation of American citizens and Palestinian civilians from Gaza is now under discussion. They would leave the fighting area by using a southern tunnel that leads to Egypt.
Such Brutality has Never Been Witnessed in the State's History
Without any connection to Hamas, innocent citizens in Gaza are at danger of losing their homes or dying from the shelling as Israel prepares for a potential ground operation.
“Similar to any country on the globe, Israel possesses the legitimate prerogative to retaliate — in fact, bears an obligation to counteract — these malevolent assaults,” he said.
In a video released by the prime minister’s office on Tuesday, Netanyahu describes some of the violent deeds committed by Hamas members. He tells stories of families being murdered in their own houses, women being raped and then cruelly slain, warriors being beheaded, and defenceless children being executed by burning at the stake.
“Such brutality has never been witnessed in the state’s history. They surpass ISIS in severity,” he declared in the video. “We must treat them as such; they are even more dangerous than ISIS.”
Biden underscored the need for all countries to unequivocally condemn Hamas’s brutal atrocities, which are akin to the atrocities of ISIS from many years ago, according to a White House readout of the call.
Number of Civilian Deaths in Gaza Starts to Rise
Ever since Hamas launched an unexpected offensive over the weekend, there has been persistent doubt about President Biden’s willingness to give Prime Minister Netanyahu total authority to take decisive action against Hamas using any means at his disposal. On the other hand, if the number of civilian deaths in Gaza starts to rise, it remains to be seen if the President will insist that Netanyahu show moderation.
During his speech, Biden assured Netanyahu that the US will respond swiftly, decisively, and forcefully in a crisis similar to what Israel is going through right now.
Historically, American presidents have acted as moderators. President Barack Obama urged all sides in the conflict to use caution and restraint during the Israeli bombardment of Gaza in 2014 as reprisal for Palestinian rocket launches.
Extreme conservative members of the Republican party advocate for Israel to take decisive action, aiming to decisively defeat Hamas and ensure lasting peace by deterring future attacks.
There is a progressive wing of the Democratic Party that is unhappy with Israel’s treatment of Palestinians living in the West Bank and Gaza Strip. President Biden has been pushed by certain left-leaning House members to cut off financial aid to Israel unless more rights for Palestinians are upheld.
