Brock Purdy Being Under The Concussion Protocol, Participated in 49ers Practice
Date : 27th October, 2023
THE SOIL – Although Brock Purdy is still under the concussion protocol, he took part in Thursday’s 49ers practise.
He still needs to go through the process and get over his concussion symptoms before he can fully participate. His presence on the pitch during warm-ups, running and passing with teammates, is encouraging nonetheless. This befits his chances of playing in Sunday’s game against the Bengals and raises two important questions.

Brock Purdy Conducted A Full Press Conference
Remember that at the time, the 49ers were not aware of Purdy’s injury. It was unknown to them before, during, or after the game. Surprisingly, Purdy conducted a full press conference—something that injured players rarely do. He didn’t start showing symptoms till he was flying home with the squad. He’s back on the practise pitch now, and he seems to be performing at his typical level. He looked like himself in the locker room yesterday. This isn’t a medical diagnosis, of course, but he seems like a guy who expects to be ready to play on Sunday.
Though it doesn’t appear to be the 49ers’ current plan of action, they might be cautious and bench him for a game. It appears that they are readying him for a lead role. This might be because they think he’s necessary to beat the Bengals or because he’s prepared. The 49ers cannot afford to go into the bye week with a three-game losing run, and they don’t have great odds of defeating Joe Burrow and the Bengals with backup quarterback Sam Darnold.
