THE SOIL – The Boston Celtics defeated the Miami Heat 119-111 on Friday night to win a thrilling home opener in a repeat of the Eastern Conference finals from 2023. Notably, every one of their five starting players scored at least 17 points to add to the total.
Derrick White showed off his scoring skills with 28 points, including a spectacular 14-point outburst in the fourth quarter, making 5 of his 7 shots from beyond the arc to help Boston win for the second straight game.
The Boston Celtics put on an incredible show, with all five of their starting players scoring at least 17 points. They defeated the Miami Heat 119-111 at home in their much awaited rematch from the 2023 Eastern Conference finals. With 27 points, Jaylen Brown took the lead, followed by Jayson Tatum with 22, and Jrue Holiday and Kristaps Porzingis with 17 apiece. Notably, Jrue Holiday demonstrated his skill on the boards as well, pulling down 10 rebounds in a strong double-double effort.
Miami was led by Tyler Herro, who scored 28 points, dished out six assists, and pulled down six rebounds. To complete the team’s double-figure scoring, Bam Adebayo scored 27 points, Jimmy Butler scored 14, and Kyle Lowry scored 13.

Miami Was Just 2 Points Up
After White made two three-pointers in the first few seconds of the fourth quarter, the team went from down by just two points to leading 96-90 with 9 minutes and 27 seconds remaining in the game.
After two minutes, Miami Heat was just two points up, but with six minutes and fifty-three seconds left in the game, Boston passed the 100-point threshold thanks to five straight points by Brown.
After a 7-3 run, Boston’s lead was 109-101 with 4 minutes and 19 seconds remaining because to strong finishes from Tatum and White from long range. Then, with one minute remaining, Herro and Love made clutch three-pointers to cut the lead to just one possession.
After a coach’s review that rejected a foul call against Butler, Boston scored the final five points, led by a three-pointer by Brown, to seal the game.

Boston's Strong Late Runs Gave Them A 60-55 Lead At The
Break
Three minutes into the third quarter, Porzingis scored five points in a row, giving the Celtics a seven-point lead. But Herro’s back-to-back three-pointers set off a three-minute run that saw Miami regain a 79-76 lead.
Lowry’s pull-up three-pointer from midrange changed the score in favour of the opposition after an Adebayo three-pointer and a Herro free throw that was given because of a technical foul. Just short of tying the game, Boston got within striking distance thanks to a late three-pointer from Tatum.
Boston’s strong late runs in the first and second quarters gave them a 60-55 lead at the break.
Herro scored 12 points in the first quarter on two three-pointers, outscoring Boston’s 16 points at the half. Miami’s lead reached double digits thanks to a 10-point run that was started by this outstanding play.

During the first few minutes of the second quarter, the Miami team started an amazing 4-for-7 run from longer range. This included two straight long-range baskets by Duncan Robinson immediately following Tatum’s drive down the baseline to tie the game at 33.
With just 2 minutes and 51 seconds remaining, the Celtics responded with a powerful run that included a steal-and-dunk by Brown and a layup by Holiday. They held Miami to only six points in the last five minutes and four seconds before halftime.
